The Maker
A Suzhou embroidery studio that makes these sachets between larger commissions. The embroiderers say the sachets are their favorite work — small enough to finish in a day, detailed enough to stay interesting.
The Place
Suzhou, Jiangsu. Where silk thread is split into strands thinner than hair and stitched into scenes that look painted from a distance. The lavender comes from a farm in Xinjiang — the best in China.
The Craft
Silk satin, hand-embroidered in Su style with traditional floral and auspicious motifs. Each sachet is filled with dried lavender and sewn shut by hand. The tassel is twisted silk floss. The jade bead is genuine — a small green stone on a red cord, meant to bring calm.
